Hola Summerz ♥

Yippee ya ya yippee yippee ya!!!!! Been longing this day to come since the first day I put my foot onto this land of Fish & Chips. A whole month-long 'rain' is finally gone and I can finally see rainbow through my sparkling clear window. No more sleepless nights with pharmacology and pharmaceutics. Hyper!!!

Words can describe my feelings right now. Four months of summer break!!!! It's already my third summer break since uni life started but somehow, this summer just feels different. Hmmm why so??? Prolly cause it's my first 'real' summer that I'm gonna spend in UK. Haha.

Anyway, am so excited now for alton towers with the girls and guys tomorrow. All the spinning, 360 degrees, thrilling roller coaster rides. Muacks, I miss you guys so much!!!!

Being Superhuman

Came across this article in the Uni's official student magazine on one of those nights that I camped over in the library. I personally found it amazing and decided to share it here. It's about these eclectic bunch of individuals being 'superhuman' having 'superpowers' but actually it's a type of defect. They stupefy science, revolutionise modern medicine, accrue global media attention and yet still go on about their daily business like the rest of us.

One Very Beautiful Mind
Daniel Tammet is a savant, someone with an area of exceptional expertise; in numbers and languages. He is mentally able to calculate any maths problem given to him and demonstrated this by calculating the irrational number Pi to 22514 decimal places in 5 hours and 9 minutes. Daniel also speaks 10 languages; he was seen having a deep intellectual conversation in Icelandic on a talk show seven days after beginning to learn it. His language instructor called him 'not human' and a 'genius!' Daniel had epilepsy as a small child and has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, which is a high functioning form of autism. Scientists believe that it's the epilepsy and autism combined that have given Daniel his abilities. Daniel is currently writing his own language called Manti, has two bestselling books and resides with his partner in London.

Seeing Without Sight
Ben Underwood had both of his eyes removed after suffering from retinal cancer at the tender age of 3. Remarkably, by the age of 14, he'd learnt that, through making a clicking sound with his tongue and detecting the subtle echoes, he could work out his environment in a manner similar to dolphins. This echolocation enabled him to play basketball, rollerblade in the streets and ride his bike without hitting cars or people. It meant that he could walk to school alone, being able to 'see' parked cars, benches and the edges of pathway without his eyes. Despite his blindness, he lived his life like a 'normal' teenager, receiving no special treatment for his disability.

Amazing isn't it??? For me at least. Hehe. Anyway, highlight message of the day.

What's Life All About

Life has been all about studies and overwhelming stress for the past 3 weeks. Wake up with notes, eat with notes, drama with notes and sleep with notes. Sick enough. At times, I feel like strangling myself for working last minute. But when i think of it, what's the point? I will forget even if i started early. Memory skills seems to be deteriorating. Sign of aging???

Maybe I shouldn't aim too high. Perhaps a second upper is good enough.

Just so you know, I've been awake since 11am yesterday morning >< Ya, let me do the calculation. That's like 36 hours excluding the 2 hours of 'accident' nap this morning. Just hope that I wouldn't collapse in the exam hall tomorrow X.X

Sigh.

Anyways, 9 hours to my first paper. So gotta go catch some sleep now. Really don't wanna have a 20 yr old soul living in a 60 yr old body. Wish me luck *fingers crossed*
