Summer Placement

Today's my first day being in the pharmacy department in HUKM. Four of us (Shi Hao, Chia Yin, Annie and I) were separated from each other. Miss Michelle which was the person in-charge of us gave us a list which consists of the respective departments we had to go for each day. 10 days 10 different places.

My schedule goes like this:-

10/8: OPDC (Outpatient Dispensing Counseling)
11/8: DI (Drug Info)
12/8: TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition)
13/8: CDR (Cytotoxic Drug Reconstitution)
14/8: Store

17/8: IPD (Inpatient Dispensing)
18/8: DDA/Manufacture (Dangerous Drug Area)
19/8: OPD (Outpatient Dispensing)
20/8: Retail
21/8: Clinical (Where we get to go for ward roundings ^^)

I was under a PRP (pre-reg pharmacist)today in the OPDC. OPDC was quite boring today cause they were only very few patients who came in to ask for help on the method of using inhalers, insulin injections and epoietin injections. Nevertheless, on their medication. All i did today was helping the patients to translate the labels because most of them were senior citizens and they do not know how to read the malay labels. Other than that, sitting around, reading leaflets and of course chatting with the PRP(she was the only one with me in that room =p).

Over a thousand patients flowing in and out of the OPD today. Quite a busy day for those who are in OPD. Can you imagine how many medicines that we had to prepare a day for those patients??? Average each patient with a minimum of 5 drugs (some can come up to more than 10). I took nearly half an hour today to just finish off one prescription with like more than 10 drugs. We had to supply them with enough drugs for 2 months. Too lazy to count now but you know i know. It's ALOT.

Gotta sign off now... Continue with Burning Flame 1st =)

Lassie Day

It's friday.. Finally the day has come. I was planning to stop work yesterday but since Dr Ong asked me to stay for another day so here i go working for another day. =)

They had a small little farewell for me yesterday. We ordered Domino's delivery. Had 3 large pizzas and one bbq fried chicken. Told them we can't finish 3 large ones but they insisted on ordering 3. Ended up, left with one large pizza untouched and i brought it home for my sis. Hehe...

Once again would like to express my gratitude to all the doctors and my colleagues who had helped me alot throughout my days there.

Okok, going back to my drama now... Little nyonya... Have to finish it by tonight if not i can't sleep. Please give me a good ending... Pls Pls Pls... =p

Mmmm

Things i did ytd:-

# Went to Low Yat to get the screen protector and casing for my new phone. But ended
up buying only the screen protector. The casings there weren't nice. The one i saw
online was so much nicer. So decided to buy that instead although it's abit exp.
# Dinner in a korean bbq restaurant with my cousies. No kimchi soup cause there were
no pork delivery =( Anyway, i had the kimchi pancake which was really good. ^^
Couldn't resist myself from ordering another plate although i was feeling bloated
and as fat as a pig.

Last friday i broke one of Dr Ong's favourite mirror, luckily he was having a good mood so din got any scoldings from him. It was a double-sided mirror and only one side was broken. I felt bad so i brought the mirror home to see whether it can be fixed. When i was assisting Dr Maz upstairs this morning, suddenly one of my colleague came and told me that Dr Ong wants to see me. Immediately, i asked her why. But she has no idea too. Was it about the x-ray i washed this morning for one of his patient?? Did i place it wrongly again?? But i was quite sure i did double check before he started taking the x-ray. O Oh... I went downstairs with a heavy heart, thinking why he wanted me downstairs suddenly. Once i went in to the room, all my doubts were gone. He wants me there just to watch the operation. Phewwwww. It was this young boy who's having a decay in the root of his teeth. To fix it, he had to have his gum cut open and drill a hole in the bones surrounding the teeth and place some amalgam to cover up the hole again. The doctor said this was quite a rare case, so he decided to let me have a look at it. =) So nice of him... Hehe..

A new girl by the name of Zi Wei came today. She's a Year 2 dentistry student from Aimst University. She was extremely friendly and so we had lunch together and she told me tonnes about dentistry and Aimst.

3 more days left... =(
